Bain capital is in talks to acquire a controlling stake in Manappuram Finance.

- Bain is said to have no interest in minority stake and wants controlling stake in the listed company and it has offered premium of 20-25% to current market price.

- MD Nandakumar who owns 35.25% with his family group has dismissed talks of divestment but there are succession challenges going on in the company.

- Manappuram also got regulatory jolt on 17th October when RBI barred its IPO bound subsidiary Asirvad Finance from fresh loan disbursement and stock crashed 14% on that day.

Couple of major reasons are

1. Sentiments in Indian market and Hyundai IPO going at discount.
2. Majority of IPO is OFS so investors are cautious.
