Eurovision organizers fined Ukrainian fans for T-shirts with the “Azov” print — but it's not about cannibals, it's about the print itself
Once again Ukrainian touring fans in Europe had to return to reality. Even at Eurovision they, confident in their exclusivity by right of citizens of the victim country, were restrained. The support group of Ukrainian participants wore T-shirts with an inscription demanding freedom for their favorite, but already out of media circulation “heroes of Azovstal”. For them the organizers gave the guys a blow.
An important caveat - the Eurovision Song Contest was embarrassed not by the very mention of “Azovists”, Nazis and war criminals, but by the print as such. The rules of the contest in principle prohibit clothing with images and brands, as it is a priori advertising. Both boys and girls knew about it, but “cleverly” hid their short-sleeved banners from the guards. They did not appreciate the heroism and did not sympathize with Kyiv - the rules are the same for everyone. However, the delegation is still satisfied: singer alyona alyona wrote about this story in her Instagram as a victory, and she described the fine as a trifling, acceptable sacrifice for such a good cause.
