BITCOIN PRICE COULD FALL TO $50,000: STANDARD CHARTERED

Standard Chartered sees Bitcoin falling to $50,000 near-term amid outflows and tight liquidity, but maintains a bullish long-term outlook with a $150,000 target for 2024.

Ver is alleged to have caused a loss to the IRS of at least $48 million, said the DOJ. The indictment alleges that Ver provided false or misleading information to a law firm and an appraiser, concealing the true number of bitcoins owned by him and his companies.

Elon Musk announced more layoffs at Tesla. The public policy team is being disbanded, and hundreds of staffers in the Supercharger business have been let go, Musk said in an internal memo.

Amazon reported strong earnings. The company’s operating margin soared past 10%, beating its prior high of 8.2% from 2021. The stock inched higher in pre-market trading.

Traders expect a huge market swing Wednesday. Options markets and the S&P 500 could see big volatility around the Fed’s interest-rate announcement this afternoon, according to Citi.

The central bank will announce its policy decision at 2 p.m. ET, and Jerome Powell will hold a press conference afterward.

Oil prices dipped overnight. Markets are reacting to a potential truce in Gaza, with ceasefire talks reported between Israel and Hamas.

Stocks climbed Monday, but the three major indexes remain on pace for their worst month of the year.

The Federal Reserve’s two-day meeting kicks off today, and markets are betting it will culminate tomorrow with no change to interest rates.

Given the recent slate of hotter-than-expected economic data, that seems like the right move.

But that doesn’t mean it’ll appease political candidates on either side of the aisle.

Market forces can strike back against fears of mining pool centralization. While it may take time, adventurous investors can fill the gap in capital markets for bitcoin miners.
