macOS Sequoia App Compatibility Megathread
I just updated to macOS Sequoia! Here are all the apps I regularly use on macOS and whether they work well.Finder - Works the same as SonomaSafari - Works the same as SonomaMail - Works the same as SonomaMessages - Works well. Nice new tapbacks.Maps - Works well and supports new features.Google Earth Pro - Works the same as SonomaPhotos - Works well with new featuresPixelmator Pro - Works the same as SonomaFaceTime - Works wellZoom - Works wellNotes - Works well with new features. Math notes is a bit finicky though.Preview - Works finePages, Numbers, and Keynotes - Work the same as SonomaXcode - Works fine but got a circular reference error when using the MarkdownUI package to compile GeminAI. Found another Markdown package and it works well.Eclipse - Works the same as SonmoaTerminal - Works the same as SonomaCoderunner - Works the same as SonomaCleanMyMac - Works the same as SonomaMacBot - Works the same as SonomaGeminAI - Works the same as SonomaOfficial ChatGPT app - Works the same as Sonoma (if not a bit better)AlDente - Works the same as SonomaOne Switch - Works the same as SonomaCleanShot - Works the same as Sonoma but every time after restart and you try to use it, there is an alert asking you if you want to continue allowing it to record your screen. It is not a big deal though. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.TextSniper - Works the same as Sonoma except for that hideous alert. Thankfully, it only appears once after restart.Bartender - Works the same as Sonoma, hallelujah! There is that alert but it's not a big deal.Overall system stability is pretty good as well. No noticeable major OS bugs as far as I can tell that affect usability. There may be a few things here and there but overall, the system should work fine with most, if not, all of your Mac apps right now.Stability and Compatibility score: 9.5/10

MagicMenu from iBoysoft - Not recommended
I recently saw a recommendation for MagicMenu from iBoysoft on Reddit and decided to try out the app. According to my records, it's the 1663rd app I have purchased from Apple, and it is the first one that I have ever requested a refund on. When I decided to purchase a one-year subscription, I was billed $19.99 rather than the $9.99 it clearly states as the price in the product description on the app store. There was also no free trial as advertised.MagicMenu adds a few options to the right-click context menu in Finder. Almost all of these actions are found in my preferred file manager, Path Finder or in single purpose utilities like App Cleaner, the native Photos app, Duplicate Detective and Keka. Other Finder replacements, like Commander One offer custom right-click menus as well. If you just want right click actions in the finder, Qmenu is only $.99, and 2menu is $2.99, although both are from Chinese developers if that gives you pause.More details about MagicMenu

What's In Your Privacy and Security Toolkit?
I have my own privacy and security toolkit. In the modern age, it takes a real strategy to protect yourself from invasive mega-corporations who want to track you, bad actors on the malware front and in your face non-stop advertising. Whatever tools you choose have to balance with usability because we all have work we have to get done.VPN - I use Nord because it is highly reated and I got a good deal on it, but many opt for Mullvad because it is free and highly rated.Firewall - I use LittleSnitch. Lulu is a free option and Lockdown Privacy Desktop is a good option for less technically inclined users.Real Time Protection - I use BlockBlock from Objective-See, a free and open-source choice, but for more options, some choose Malwarebytes which is paid for free for real time protection but has a free on demand scanner.Browser-based Protection - I currently use uBlock Origin and a Chromium based browser but the implementation of Manifest 3 may change that. Many security minded folks claim that Firefox and uBlock Origin make the best choice.More Info

NoteAway - the best menubar notes app I found so far. But abandoned?
I just found notes app NoteAway, which does exactly what I am looking for:Stay in the menubarShow a list of the notesFormatting (bold, italic etc.)Exporting notes to .rtf filesCan be pinned on topIt's in the Mac App Store only. There's a free version and a pro version for $5. Rating 4.6. So far so good. BUT: it seems to be abandoned. Last version is 1.1.6, from Feb 26, 2015 (!)I'm still on Intel/Monterey. Before I would buy it, I would like to know if someone here uses it on a Silicon Mac with Sonoma (as I will buy a new Mac in 2024).And in general: good app? Alternatives that can do exactly the same?

Lingon X, a tool for examining scheduled processes and creating your own
Lingon X, a venerable Mac utility from developer Peter Borg, occupies a relatively unique space in that it provies a comprehensive alalysis of all the sheduled processes on you machine. It looks at the processes that are particular to your account, those that apply to all users, those assigned to root, at all login items and at privileged helper tools. You may very well find remnants of programs you thought you deleted or disabled long ago. Any process can be set to relaunch automatically, helpful if you have anything prone to quitting (like Google Drive does for me). You can disable or remove anything that is running which you no longer use or thought you had already deleted. The reporting tool, EtreCheck, provides some of that info but does not provide a mechanism to control it..Like other Mac automation tools Keyboard Maestro and Hazel, Lingon X can be used to schedule reminders, send emails, and move files. It will also open your essential apps, launch scripts, and run commands at specific times or when triggered by events. Helpful to both power users and newbies alike the interface is simple but has sophisticated capabilities.Lingon X comes in two versions. The one I've reviewed is $19.99 and is available from the developer's website. It can often be found offered in software bundles from places like AppSumo and BundleHunt. Do not get the cheaper App Store alternative as it lacks many features due to sandboxing. My full review with screenshotsDeveloper's Website

Privacy-centered app that automatically renames downloaded files (no AI)
I use Anna's Archive to download pdfs for personal use, but I'd prefer not to have -"Anna’s Archive" in the file name. I'm simply looking for an easy way to remove "Anna's Archive" from the filename without having to do this manually every time. There are other use cases too such as limiting file names to the first 10 characters for example. Is there anything like this?

Any quick capture/management visual library app?
I’ve heard of , but the fact that it messes with the folder structure is a bit of a dealbreaker. I’ve also found which seems to have a similar quick capture feature like eagle, but limited features and format support. Has anyone use it? I haven’t found a lot of information online, and don’t know of any similar apps like these two. Thanks for the help!

I made a macOS menu bar app to help you convert clipboard data fast
Hey Reddit!I started working on this 2 weeks ago after spending much time searching google for base64 encode websites. And of course other converters. That is super slow and constantly breaks my development flow.So I built Hammer for 2 reasons: 1. Save time and concentrate on the tasks at hand. 2. Be confident the data stays locally.I have been using it ever since and it has been very handy and I hope it will be for you. Would love to hear what are your thoughts on this.Jack

Alarm Clock Pro - a great app if you can find it on sale
Earlier this year I bought Alarm Clock Pro from Bundle Hunt for $1.50 and it turned out to be the best clock app I've ever seen. Not only does it have multiple alarms, it also features world clocks, timers and a stopwatch as well as time difference calculations between locations. Its alarms include music, Internet radio, custom audio, and pop-up or screen messages. It's automation features include launching apps at specified times, opening web pages, waking, sleeping, logging off or restarting. You can even schedule texts or emails with it.The downside is the regular price on the dev's website. a monthly subscription is $1.83. A one-time purchase with no upgrades is $29.99 and a lifetime purchase with upgrades is a whopping $119. There is a Mac App Store version for $24.99

[request] M1. App that is like GenFill of photoshop but only for removing objects? Not necessarily creating new stuff with a prompt. Just straight up healing brush but more advanced or AI level.
I need to remove many objects but PS genfill is too expensive for personal usage.

Looking for a better way to connect folders with embroidery files to a database so I can find files by customer or tags. Would DT be good for this?
